BOSCOMBE HAS LOWER THAN (BOURNEMOUTH) AVERAGE OF VIOLENT CRIME, CRIMINAL DAMANGE AND VEHICLE CRIME
Over 50% of households in Boscombe are in the private rented sector and poor security features in these dwellings assist domestic burglary levels
Although assault figures etc are decreasing, Boscombe West has the highest level of recorded domestic related violent crime in Bournemouth. This is of course a serious matter but it does mean that the perception that the streets of Boscombe West are not safe is not strictly accurate as most of these incidents are “behind closed doors”, carried out by people known to the victim.
Crime trends show a decrease in Boscombe but are increasing in other electoral wards
Although these figures are clearly very reassuring and show a very positive trend, paradoxically the fear of crime in the area has gone up. It is therefore important to get this message across to reassure residents of the area
